Wellington Potters Supplies: STAINS
Bulk Supplies: If you require several kilograms of one colour, a special indent price is often possible.
General Notes: The maximum temperatures shown are indicative only; limits depend on many factors, especially glaze composition and whether in oxidation or reduction firing. Colours usually fade, or change, over a temperature range.
Chrome-tin (CrSn) colours are listed for 1250º max., (and that is shown in italics) but are not satisfactory beyond about 1150º unless used with a carefully formulated high-calcium glaze, such as WPS Clear (see "Glazes" section). These clear glazes also suit almost all other stains. All stains show the manufacturer’s number for identification.
WPS 1 is a pink stain that we mix from other stains. Likewise we mix our own preferred shade of chartreuse as WPS4.
